The Fatwood combined with the QUICK-FIRE is the perfect survival tool because the striker portion allows the user to scrape the fatwood stick and benefit from a dry source of tinder that is naturally saturated with pitch. The striker is a useful tool without the fatwood but the combination allows a hiker to always have a quick easy and reliable source of a natural fire starter. All our fatwoord is sourced from old pine and fir stumps in British Columbia. When a tree is cut, the stump stands with the roots wicking up pitch and the stump becomes saturated with pitch, providing a fantastic source for our camping fire striker without damaging the environment.
