Site Description:The Island Lake recreation site has a moderate sized camping area. Unfortunately many of the trees in the campsite are being attacked by beetles, and are dying. Subsequently many have been removed over the last few years to keep the site open and safe. As a result, the site is slowly becoming more open. The recreation site is still a popular location for fishers, hunters and campers. Other nearby recreation sites easily accesible include, Elkhart, Paradise and Bobs Lakes.

Driving Directions:From Merritt travel southeast on highway 97C towards Kelowna. Exit the highway at the Elkhart Lodge Interchange and turn onto the paved Paradise Lake Road. Travel along this road for approximately 8 kms passing by the recreation sites for Elkhart and Bobs Lakes. When the road changes to a gravel FSR, watch for the Island Lake access road and directional sign. Turn left onto the Island Lake access road and travel a short distance to the lake and campsites. The nearby Paradise Lake Recreation site entrance is located a short distance back on the opposite side of the Paradise Lake road.
