No more updates as of 5PM here. I just got called out by Search and Rescue to help out with evacuations.

The entire area of Glenrosa is being evacuated. Structures have caught fire. Residents of Kelowna and West Kelowna – stay away and let emergency people do their work.

See map of the area below.

Some folks are refusing to leave their residences. In some areas near the road close to Gormans, the fire is 30 feet from the road.

Turnball, Gates and other roads near Gormans on Glenrosa Road have been evacuated.

Glenrosa Rd. has been closed and several local roads off of Glenrosa have been notified to evacuate.

As my wife and I enjoyed a view this afternoon on Knox Mountain, we noticed a flume of smoke in the Glenrosa area. Within minutes we could easily confirm it was a forest fire as the strong breeze pushed flames up Mount Drought. As we drove down Knox mountain B103 was the only radio station that had someone in the news department reporting on the fire. Mount Drought has a well known called Mount Drought Trail as well as the Telemark Trails on the top. Of course many country homes are in the area. The water bombers are on it and if the wind dies down they may be able to make some headway. If not, evacuations will be inevitable.
