Hiking Trails away from the snow in May.

BC Hiking has cooled but Okanagan hiking is just getting heated up. I had some big plans of camping overnight in one of the backpack – in / boat – in tent sites on Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park tonight but even though the weather is looking great the temperature at night is dropping below zero so I decided to hold off until the mercury rises again. The weather is looking perfect today (Saturday the 26th) so I will take my sons up to Pajama Run.  Because of the caves and crevices in the concentrated rock outcrop they think it is an awesome place to Paint ball.

I also wanted to find out if the hiking trails and biking trails in this area has been affected by the Kelowna Mountain development. The Kelowna Mountain development begins at Gillard Forest Service Road and will spread way up and over all the way to Lebanon Lake. (I think).

The Pajama Run on Gillard FSR is one hiking area that’s out of the snowline and another great Kelowna hiking spot that can be discovered right now is Mount Boucherie.  The Trail Head can be found by crossing the Okanagan Lake Bridge and heading toward Westbank take a Right on Boucherie Road or Hudson Road and then follow the roads as listed on the trail information found here.
