Wise Choices In Hiking Tents
Backpacking may be one of the greatest pastimes ever devised. There is something magical about being outdoors with everything you need on your back. The hikes are hard, but fun, and you will sleep soundly on the trail. So what kind of hiking tents are you planning on sleeping in? Whether you are new to the sport, or a seasoned adventurer, one thing will come to matter as much as any thing else. This thing is weight, and how to keep it out of your pack and off of your back. Serious hikers pare things down to the final ounce, and this includes their sleeping stuff. After any time spent on the trail, you will be considering every ounce on your back, believe this to be true. Shelter is no different in this regard. So regard the lightest of them all, the tarp. This can weigh just a few ounces, but can be turned into a serviceable sleeping quarters in nothing flat. If the weather is going to be an issue, like it usually is, you can go up to the next step which is a bivouac sack. Also called a bivvy, or a bivvy bag, this is about as small as an enclosed shelter as you can find. They will fit one person, very snuggly, but they do a good job of keeping the weather out. It is when you get past one or two happy campers that the shelters become so large. But here, too, the weight can be kept to a minimum. Buy light in the first place, and then break the gear down into its component parts. Take these parts are divvy them up amongst the group, and every body carries a part, keeping things light all around. Good hiking tents can make the difference between a fantastic excursion and a miserable one, believe this. Poor weather has ruined more good times on the trail than any thing else combined. So be prepared for it, and pack in the solution with you. Lightweight hiking tents offer easy accommodations when you are backpacking or bicycling. Hiking tents are perfect for a mild summer night.

Coleman Camping Gear – Excellent For Any Kind Of Outdoor Lifestyle
Whenever we head to a hiking trip there’s only one thing that comes in to our mind and that is fun and lots of fun. That can’t be done without the proper camping equipment. Without the appropriate camping equipment and tools your camping trip can be quickly turn into a frustration. That is why many people who actually tried using Coleman recommend using Coleman camping equipments. When camping there are 2 classes of camping equipment and that is personal needs and other things that maybe helpful. Under the first category includes camping tent, camping lantern, camping stove, dining kit, first aid kit and other camping supply that we need to have to live through. And the other classification is not as essential as the first but only necessary to maximize fun, similar to air mattress or sleeping bag, coolers, tent fan and basic tools such as knife and shovel, etc… Bear in mind that we camp for the sake of fun and not to punish ourselves by doing complicated things with our bare hands. Coleman offers most of the items we have to have (besides food) in order to have a successful camping trip. Starting from its various size tent, available are 4, 6, 8 person and family size tents. Coleman tents are easy to set-up and are built with comfort and convenience at the campsite in mind. Significant features provide a weather resistant layout to secure you from changing weather condition and cruel tropical storm. These tents are proven in a simulated weather condition similar to a heavy rain storm and hurricane force gusts and Coleman guarantees its tents will continue to keep you dry. The perfect match to your Coleman tent is the Coleman queen-sized mattress. With this huge capacity mattress it can comfortably support 2 large people or several smaller people at a time. Using premium quality PVC material it can withstand any abuse you throw at it. The pneumatic bed can actually holds 600 pounds and can be filled easily using a pump which can be bought separately. Additionally, Coleman is one of the leaders in making lanterns way back more than one hundred years ago. Until now Coleman is still manufacturing lanterns such as the durable battery powered lantern which is perfect to use in outdoor camping. These lanterns are strong and capable of maintaining your tent well lighted for hours, on low setting it can continue performing up to twenty-eight hours before finally recharging. Or you can carry additional batteries for extended usage or in the event of unexpected emergency. If you want a simpler and compact lamp that can easily place to the tent poles you can try the Coleman tent light. Another great outdoor product of Coleman is its massively popular fold-up camp stove. A good example is the Coleman two-burner dual-fuel stove which is furnished with 11,500 BTU burner and one 9,500 BTU burner. This burner is very small and can boil a quart of water in four mins. and is best for cooking up your favorite dishes in small amount of time. Camping throughout summer can be very unpleasant particularly at night when it’s time to rest. With Coleman free-standing tent fan it can conveniently supply a powerful air movement around your tent or RV. It has an adjustable two-speed ventilation selector switch that gives enough ventilation and can usually lasts up to 21 hours of continuous run and utilizes a set of four D batteries. With its compact and foldable structure it can readily transport and fit into a small space. Or if you want a combination of lamp and fan there is also a Coleman ceiling fan with light, so no need to carry a separate lamp and fan. Remember the second group of camping equipment? Well this next product falls under this category. The Coleman tent kit is a complete tent kit for setting up your tent. It offers 4 strong 10 inch steel tent stakes for tent corners including a solid rubber mallet for pounding stakes into the ground. It also contains a handy broom and dust pan for keeping personal hygiene inside the tent. And when it is time to wrap up a tent stake puller is included so you can easily pull the stakes without scratching your hands. Rochester Area L.L. Bean set for splashy first day July 9th
Tom Tobin • Democrat & Chronicle, link to original post Jim Hopkins of the Finger Lakes Ontario Watershed paddling club is a long-time whitewater kayaker who knows his way around streams and rivers — and outdoor retailers. And he’s eager to see if the new L.L. Bean store at Eastview Mall in Victor meets his exacting standards. The 30,000-square-foot store opens Friday, July 9, with a splashy launch. Gift cards will be given to the first 250 customers through the door and there will be a kayak giveaway every hour on July 10. For Hopkins, the buying test might be for something smaller. “I went into the L.L. Bean store in Maine to see if I could find something for a kayak hatch cover that leaked and, though they didn’t have it there, I could have ordered it. As far as the new store goes, for me it depends on how big it is and how much is in there. But it’s always good to have another outdoor store in this market.” The Eastview store — it will be on mall grounds but not attached to the mall proper — is the first in New York state east of Albany. Besides outdoor apparel and equipment, L.L. Bean has what it calls an Outdoor Discovery School, offering instruction and outings for kayaking, fly fishing, clay shooting and other sports. The Victor store is the 14th L.L. Bean outside of Maine, where the first, famous store opened in Freeport in 1912. The privately held company now generates nearly $1.8 billion each year from its online, catalog and retail operations. “We’re very excited to be in Rochester,” said Greg Elder, vice president of stores. “We do a ton of research before doing something like this and we know from our catalog and online records how good and loyal our customers in the Rochester area are.” Dennis Wilmot, vice president of leasing for Wilmorite Management Group, owner of Eastview, called L.L. Bean “an iconic retailer. Its opening is part of an ongoing process to assemble those brands that enhance our retail trade.” Elder said he has been especially impressed by the caliber of the applicants for sales and other positions at the store. “There were 700 to 800 applicants and the staff we’ve put together is great, full of enthusiasm,” Elder said. One hundred and thirty were eventually hired. The 9 a.m. grand opening, Elder said, should attract a big crowd. “There are gift cards for the first 250, but that doesn’t completely explain the thousands or so (people) we’ve gotten for openings before,” he said. The store will give away one kayak every hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 10, and on July 11, shoppers may register for a $750 back-to-school shopping spree. As part of the opening, the company is donating $10,000 to the Adirondack Mountain Club. Filed under: Contest , Kayaking , Rochester Tagged: Eastview Mall , Outdoor Discovery School , Victor NY
